Reverend John Einem (pronounced "eye - numb") has been serving as pastor of Christ congregation since May of 1998. Some say that he still has a bit of the northern accent he acquired growing up in the Chicago and Detroit areas. His schooling was northern as well. After graduating from Concordia college in Ann Arbor, MI, he worked for five years as a certified Parish Assistant at Mt. Olive Lutheran church in Flint, MI. To receive his education for the pastoral ministry he attended seminary at Concordia - St. Catharines, Ontario Canada. Since his ordination in February of 1989, all of Pastor Einem's service to the church has been in Kansas: at Mt. Calvary, Wamego; St. Paul's mission, Eskridge; and presently at Christ, Augusta.

Ministry to the elderly is one area that has a special place in Pastor Einem's heart, having served for 2 ½ years as a nursing home chaplain and 6 years on a Good Samaritan home advisory board. Lutherans For Life is another special ministry to him, having assisted with initiating the Flint Hills chapter and serving as a founding officer.

Pastor Einem's interests include running, tennis, volleyball, basketball, water recreation, and playing folk guitar. When he has the opportunity to travel, it is usually to Detroit to visit his father and his brother and family, or to St. Louis to see his sister and family. One exception to that pattern was a dream-come-true trip to Israel and Jordan which he went on in Nov. of 1999. He looks forward to one day returning and taking as many congregation members and friends as possible to share the life changing experience.

Marveling at the grace and guidance of the Lord, Pastor Einem is thrilled to be serving at Christ, Augusta. He enjoys many rich relationships with the members, from the elderly and shut-in to the Youth and those fresh out of the infant waters of baptism. Pastor Einem notes that opportunities here to minister the Gospel, equip the saints for ministry, and disciple others to follow the Savior are not lacking, but instead are varied and rich. Based on Christ's promises to His church, there is no doubt in Pastor's mind that God has great things in store for this congregation and He will effectively use it for His Kingdom in the future.
