At Christ Lutheran Church, there is a variety of activities in which our congregation can participate.  These are some of those activities and brief descriptions of their purpose.
  • Chaplain's Auxiliary--The Chaplain's Auxiliary is made up of ladies from all the area Lutheran churches in Wichita and surrounding communities. They meet on the fourth Wednesday of every other month in one of the area churches that serves as host.
  • Altar Guild
  • Bell Choir--Pooling their musical abilities, the members of Festive Bells ring their handbells in hymns of worship.  Some of the group have been playing handbells for over 15 years;  others have joined recently.  But it's a team effort, where the members blend their talents and the festive sounds of handbells to share the gospel.

Practices for handbells and handchimes will begin Wednesday, September 1, 2004.

Chimes will practice at 6:15 p.m. and bells will practice at 7:00 p.m. Watch the bulletin for further announcements.

  • Vocal Choir--Songs resonate through the sanctuary as the Christ Lutheran Choir praises the Lord.  Though their sound is large, the choir invites and reaches out to others who want to share their talents and raise their voices in song.  Practices are Sunday mornings at 8:30 and Wednesday evenings at 6:30.
  • Singles Groups -- There are many activities for singles in the Wichita area that are held in conjunction with our Sister Lutheran Churches. Come and meet new friends while enjoying a wide variety of organized events!
  • Middle School Youth Group--The Middle School youth group has been very popular group, and continues to grow.  The kids are concerned for each other, and they help one anther.  Friends and visitors are always welcome to the group.   The Middle School group includes grades six through eight, and is one of the two youth groups at the church.  There are two youth counselors, in addition to other parents and members, but all of the energy comes from the teens themselves.  The group meets every Sunday evening from seven to eight.  Its purpose is to integrate the youths into the church as active members, this being done through meeting other youth from regional churches and simply having a chance to meet with friends with an emphasis in religion.  Like most youth groups, there are many activities such as lock-ins, community service projects, and many other activities.
  • High School Youth Group--The congregation is excited about and fully supportive of our High School youth.  It is made up of teens that are in their high school years.  The groups goals include spiritual growth through devotions, Sunday school classes, and a commitment to worship;  social and recreational enjoyment through retreats, joint activities with other youth groups, and district youth gatherings;  and service, service to the Church and the community.
  • Ladies Bible Study
  • Midweek Bible Study--Midweek is an expanding program offered each Wednesday beginning at 7:00 pm. for children from first grade to fifth.  The children have a lesson and participate in memory work.  Mid-week is designed to help children prepare for confirmation classes.  In small groups the children received individual attention and enjoy a casual style of learning.
  • Sunday School--Christ Sunday School is growing in the word and experiencing a season of vitality.  Sunday school is held each Sunday beginning at 9:10 am.  Classes are offered for children age 3 to adult.  "Our Life in Christ" is the material that is used for the classes age 3 to 6th grade.  The children classes have either an opening or a closing where they sing as a group.  An offering is taken to each Sunday with a third of the money going to different missions.   During the summer our mission was sending 10 boxes of school supplies to Guatemala.   In March we will be sending 15 boxes to Thailand in the near future.  The children really enjoy creating these boxes, as well as letters to be included in the packages.  Classes are also held for 7th grade through high school youth.
  • Joy Fellowship--is a group of single ladies who meet once a month for a covered dish dinner and fellowship.  THey meet the last Friday of the month at noon in the parish hall.  Ladies who do not attend our church are also welcomed.  They also support the Children's Christian concern with a monthly contribution.  Baptism banners are made by the ladies to be hung in the church when there is a baptism.  During the last year they have sent several mailings to our college students who live away from home.
  • Sonshine I--is a ladies Bible study group.  They meet the first and third Tuesday morning each month at 9:30.  Each lady takes a turn in leading the Bible study.  Right now their membership is full but they urge any women who are interested in a Bible study group to start Sunshine II.  Each month the members make a contribution to the Prison Ministry in El Dorado.
  • Tabitha/LWML--Tabitha is a women's group which includes the LWML (Lutheran Women in Mission).  The name "Tabitha" was adopted when the group was gromed on June 29, 1948.  Tabitha is the Aramaic word for Dorcas, who was one who did good deeds.  (Acts 9:32-42)  Our organization motto is "In essentials, unity;  in non-essentials, liberty;  in all things, charity.   All women who are members of the congregation are invited and welcome to join.   A free will donation is accepted as a membership fee, which are used for several mission projects around the world.  Tabitha meets the second Wednesday of the month at at 7:30 p.m.
  • Midweek Devotion--The congregation is invited to join in on Pastor's devotion and coffee fellowship from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday mornings.  Spend time in the Word and enjoy some coffee and fellowship with fellow members.
  • AAL -- AAL activities are open to all members of the congregation.
  • Missionaries - contact Pastor Einem for more information on becoming a Missionary. It is a very rewarding way of spreading the word of God all over the world.
